Business claims
Other business claims: what to do and what to gather
The basics that apply to almost any business claim.
Do this first
- Make sure everyone is safe and limit further damage
- Document what happened
- Tell your insurer or broker straight away
Who to tell
- Your insurer or broker: Start your claim promptly.
What to gather
- A written account of what happened and when. Every claim starts with this.
- Photos or other records of the incident. Taken before anything is changed.
- Records of the cost or loss. Invoices, receipts and financial records.
Things that catch people out
- Late notice and admitting fault can both affect your cover. Talk to your insurer first.
